Admission to VAFF in Theatre screenings is limited to those over 18 years of age holding a valid VAFF membership.

As a registered non-profit society, the Vancouver Asian Film Festival screens films that have not been reviewed by the B.C. Film Classification Board. Under B.C. law any person wishing to see these unclassified films must be a registered member of the Film Festival Society and be 18 years of age or older.

Festival Tickets and Festival pass-holder (including membership), you will be required to show your festival ticket or pass at every screening you attend. If you cannot produce a valid festival ticket or pass, we’re afraid we must ask you to purchase another one at that time.

Members Consent

VAFF will be taking photos during its events and that these photos may be published on our website and other promotional materials. Anyone who objects to use of their image(s) in these photographs should notify VAFF at the time of the photo taking. VAFF will consider the absence of any such objections as their deemed consent to the taking and publishing of these photos on VAFF’s website and other promotional materials without any consideration.

We collect your information (name and email address) that you voluntarily provide to us on the VAFF membership form.  All members could opt in/out in receiving our newsletter and respond to a survey or marketing communication.

Film Classification Exemption

The Vancouver Asian Film Festival Society is responsible for operating in compliance with the Motion Picture Act and Consumer Protection BC.

To attend a Vancouver Asian Film Festival Society film screening (which may not have been classified by Consumer Protection BC), you must be a Vancouver Asian Film Festival Society member. Membership is by annual subscription and is limited to persons who are 18 years of age or over. Only members are permitted to be present at the place where a non-classified film is being exhibited.

The Vancouver Asian Film Festival Society mandate is the encouragement and appreciation of motion pictures as a medium of art, information or education.

Each year, some of films are not classified by Consumer Protection BC and may contain scenes of violence, sexuality, and other explicit adult content. Viewer discretion is advised.

Each year, at its discretion, the Vancouver Asian Film Festival Society may submit a certain number of films to Consumer Protection BC for classification.  Please refer to the individual film program pages for the current-year festival online, or at the festival box office during the current-year festival dates, for the latest classification information.
