A NEW THREAT RISING!
The MAMMers have entered pre-production! All seems well until Typeca$ter comes to ruin the chemistry reading at Vaudeville Theatre and the cast threatens to walk. Illume proposes a cost-effective plan which allows the MAMMers to cut out Typeca$ter for good, and they thwart the Gatekeepers once again.
AT VAUDEVILLE THEATRE
With newfound confidence and enough funds for pre-production, the MAMMers are deep into the preparation of their film. Opus is attending a chemistry read with their brilliant cast and the MAMMers are feeling marvelous!
The cast is great and their chemistry even better. Opus receives a call from MAMMer Manor, notifying him that the generous investor to their crowdfunding is checking-in!
In strolls the extravagantly dressed Typeca$ter, wearing a mischievous smirk. “I have some notes to take this story to the next level!” The MAMMers are all ears!
“Your character’s name should be Jason, names are more marketable when they’re less…ethnic. And you there, accentuate the accent, audiences love it when side characters are exotic.” And those are only some of her notes!
Shocked by her insensitive comments, the cast QUITS! They refuse to work with someone so horrible, and who would blame them?
Things aren’t looking good for the film.
BACK AT MAMMer MANOR
News of Typeca$ter’s shenanigans has placed everyone in a frenzy! Without a cast their film is a total bust. Our MAMMers find themselves in a tight spot yet again.
They scramble to find a solution, but what can they do? There is no time to recast, and what’s stopping Typeca$ter from interfering again? The actors were perfect already, besides doing so only means they’ve succumbed to Typeca$ter’s dodgy values and ethics. But how will they make the movie without her?
Illume has been busy trying to find a solution. Her quick brainstorming has led to her coming up with a cost-effective plan. By cutting a deal with her friend who owns a collection of old cameras and equipment, they should save enough in their budget that they don’t need Typerca$ter’s money.
Illume’s confident in her powers as a Super Cinematographer for: “The latest and greatest equipment does not a cinematographer make. It’s the will to create that illuminates our way to success!”
And hopefully with Typeca$ter finally gone, they’ll be able to win over the good spirits of the actors and get them back on board.
RETURNING TO VAUDEVILLE THEATRE
Things have heated up at the theatre with Typeca$ter relentlessly giving comments now to the remaining crew. “Clearly, your pathetic cast couldn’t handle the truth. I’ve got some “real” actors on standby.”
With a cheeky smile, Opus calls her bluff, “We don’t need your funds! We found a way to make it work without you!” And with that, the MAMMers escort Typeca$ter out!
With Typeca$ter gone, the MAMMers are able to convince the original cast to return. Despite the setbacks, the MAMMers are looking good for the first day of production. Let’s just hope their troubles are over.
IN THE UNDISCLOSED LOCATION
The leader of our eclectic trio of Gatekeepers is outraged by Typeca$ter’s failure.
The MAMMers have foiled him yet again. However, the scheme isn’t over until he says so. “Oh, they haven’t seen the last of us. I’ve got one last trick cooking up.”
Who is the mastermind behind the MAMMers’ troubles? Find out next time, when the MAMMers face their biggest challenge yet!
Congratulations to the top 8 teams who have been selected to go on the MAMM18 journey with us this summer. Our finalists will be entering the pre-production portion of the competition shortly, so we wish them all the best as they reach their next milestone.
