about
Launched at 2013 as a locus for industry advocacy and action with a distinct diversity focus, the VAFF Industry Insight (VAFF I²) Series continues with burning questions for our “interesting times,” both global and local.
VAFF Industry Insight Series provides an insight and insider perspectives for aspiring and seasoned filmmakers / creators of diverse backgrounds, and those in the industry who aim to work with diverse representation both in front of and behind the camera. Plus, connecting and fostering the film community for the next generation of storytellers. The Series occurs during Spring – Asian Heritage Month (May) and Fall – Film Festival (November).
Save the date of the upcoming insight series and filmmakers talk during November Film Festival (Nov 4 – 11, 2023) including keynote presentation, panels, workshop and pitch day.

We are grateful to live and work on the traditional, ancestral and unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. We thank the First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities that have cared for Turtle Island since time immemorial. With this acknowledgment, we remind ourselves of discriminatory, racist and colonial practices that have and continue to create barriers for Indigenous peoples and communities across Turtle Island.
